Days 1 and 2 - Honolulu

We had an amazing time on our trip to Hawaii. There are so many pictures to share and so much to tell that I thought I'd break it down into a few posts.

12/02/08 - The first day was spent travelling. It was a long day, but we were all so excited to get there that it didn't matter. Parker did awesome for his first time flying. He was perfect on the 2 plane flights, and didn't cry at all during take off and landing. We were pretty tired when we arrived late in the evening, so we just checked in to the hotel, grabbed some food, and hit the sack.

12/03/08 - Parker didn't adjust to the time change real well, so he had us up well before sunrise. That was ok though because we were only spending 1 day in Honolulu and we had a lot to get done. After breakfast we hit the beach as the sun came up for our first dip in the ocean.

Later in the morning we hiked up Diamond Head - an old volcanic crater. It was only .8 miles up to the top, but it was a pretty steep climb. The hike was well worth it though when we saw the view from the top. After cooling off and eating lunch, we headed over to Pearl Harbor. That was a little disappointing because it seemed like a big money pit for tourists. You had to pay for admission and then pay again for a tour to see anything interesting, and the prices were really high, so we just enjoyed the free stuff. It was nice to see the area in person though, and soak in the magnitude of what happened there.
